Sausage Sizzle
Thursday saw the Cub Pack head to Riffhams for a sausage sizzle!
Akela and Bagheera headed over earlier in the day and made bundles of wood, from kindling to logs, for burning. On arrival Cubs split into teams with adult supervision and raced off to find more wood. In some cases enough to burn all night!!
Akela demonstrated how to light a fire with a Fire Steel, cotton wool and silver birch soon there were 5 roaring fires. Sausages threaded onto green sticks and Bagheera demonstrated the optimum cooking angle, Dawn was paying attention!!
Soon sausages were sizzling and cubs were tucking into a new experience of eating off a stick! (after some tentative enquiries about rolls and ketchup!)
Dawn delivered two wonderfully cooked sausages for Akela and Bagheera declared as perfect.
Onto dessert and it had to be marshmallows warmed by the fire. With most of the pack plus some guests in the form of siblings (thanks to horrendous A12 traffic) we had a tremendous evening.
